If you get a Canada Pension Plan (CPP) pension, the money comes once a month on one set day. The October payment is on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. The November payment follows on Thursday, November 26.
The December payment comes early, on Tuesday, December 22. Everyone gets paid on the same date, so your birthday does not change it. Old Age Security (OAS) is paid on the same day as well.
Your CPP payment dates 2026 are in the table below. Retirement, disability and survivor payments all follow this one schedule.

When do you get your money?
Service Canada lists one CPP date for each month, and it is the same for everyone.
The money is sent on the listed date, but it may take a few days to reach your account. A cheque in the mail can take longer than direct deposit.

|---|---|
| January | January 28, 2026 |

Most months, CPP is paid in the last week of the month. December is the exception. The December payment arrives on December 22, before the Christmas holidays.
It is your normal December payment, sent sooner. It has to last until the new year.
Old Age Security uses the same calendar. Read how OAS eligibility and amounts work, and our OAS and GIS payment dates for 2026 has the full seniors schedule.
How much can you get?
Your CPP amount depends on what you paid into the plan. Most people get less than the maximum. The CPP retirement pension is paid monthly, and you pay income tax on it.
The maximums below are for benefits that started in January 2026. For a pension that starts later in the year, the maximum is a little higher.
| Benefit | Monthly amount | Who it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Retirement pension, maximum | up to $1,507.65 | starting at age 65 in January 2026 |
| Retirement pension, average | $858.34 | new pensions at age 65 in July 2026 |
| Disability benefit, maximum | up to $1,741.20 | people on CPP disability in 2026 |
| Survivor's pension, maximum | up to $904.59 | survivors 65 and older in 2026 |
| Survivor's pension, maximum | up to $803.54 | survivors under 65 in 2026 |

You must be at least 60 to start the CPP retirement pension. If you get the CPP disability benefit, your decision letter shows the date and amount of your first payment. After that it is paid monthly on the same dates.
How not to miss it
- Use direct deposit. Service Canada calls it the fastest and most secure way to get paid.
- Tell Service Canada when your bank account or address changes.
- If you get a cheque, expect it later. Cheques are mailed during the last 3 business days of the month.
- If a deposit is late, wait 5 to 10 business days after the payment date before you contact Service Canada. Remembrance Day, November 11, is a holiday and does not count.
- If you live in Canada, income tax is not taken off your CPP unless you ask. You can ask for tax to come off each month, so you do not owe at tax time.
- If someone who gets CPP dies, tell Service Canada as soon as possible. This avoids an overpayment.
Your next steps
- Update your bank details on the CPP receiving your benefits page.
- Plan for the longer gap after the December 22 payment.
- If a payment is missing after 5 to 10 business days, contact Service Canada through the benefits payment dates page.
- On a low income, see if you can also get the Guaranteed Income Supplement or, in Ontario, the GAINS top-up.
Questions people ask
Questions people ask
Why is the December CPP payment early?
The December payment is on Tuesday, December 22, 2026, before the Christmas holidays. Most other months are paid in the last week. It is the regular December payment, not an extra one, so budget for a longer wait until the new year.
What should I do if my CPP payment is late?
First, check your bank account and mailing address with Service Canada. Payments may take a few days to arrive. If nothing arrives, wait 5 to 10 business days after the listed date before you contact Service Canada. Cheques can take longer than direct deposit.
Are CPP and OAS paid on the same day?
Yes. The Government of Canada calendar shows the same monthly dates for the Canada Pension Plan and Old Age Security. If you get both, both deposits are sent on the same day, for example November 26, 2026. They show up as two separate deposits.
How much is the maximum CPP payment in 2026?
For a retirement pension that started at age 65 in January 2026, the most you can get is $1,507.65 a month. Most people get less. The average new pension at 65 in July 2026 was $858.34 a month. Your amount depends on what you paid into the plan.
