What is Canada Workers Benefit?
The Canada Workers Benefit (CWB) is a refundable tax credit to help individuals and families who are working and earning a low income.
Do I Qualify?
- You must be a resident of Canada
- You must be at least 19 years old, with some exceptions for parents and couples
- You must have earned working income from employment or self-employment
- Your income must be below the phase-out thresholds for your situation
- Full-time students enrolled more than 13 weeks are generally excluded unless they have an eligible dependant
How Much Can I Get?
For 2025, the maximum basic amount is $1,633 for single individuals and $2,813 for families. A disability supplement of up to $843 may also be available.
How to Apply
Claim the CWB when you file your annual tax return. CRA calculates it through Schedule 6. If you qualify, part of the benefit may also be paid in advance as ACWB.
