ODSP Payment Dates 2026: Full Schedule + Monthly Amounts
Quick answer: ODSP payments are deposited on the last business day of each month. The next ODSP payment date is March 31, 2026.
If you receive income support through the Ontario Disability Support Program, knowing exactly when your money arrives matters. Late rent, missed bills, and overdraft fees all come from not knowing the schedule. This guide covers every ODSP payment date for 2026, how much you should expect, and what to do if something goes wrong.
Full 2026 ODSP payment dates calendar
ODSP income support is paid once per month, on the last business day. If that day falls on a weekend or statutory holiday, the payment moves to the preceding business day.

December payments are typically issued earlier than usual to account for the holiday period. The exact December date will be confirmed by the Ontario government later in the year.
If you use direct deposit, funds usually appear in your account on the morning of the payment date. Some banks release deposits as early as the Friday before if the date falls on a Monday.
How much do you get from ODSP in 2026?
Your ODSP payment has two parts: a basic needs allowance (for food, clothing, and personal items) and a shelter allowance (for rent, utilities, and housing costs). The shelter portion is based on your actual costs, up to the maximum for your family size.
| Family type | Basic needs | Maximum shelter | Total maximum |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single person | $809 | $599 | $1,408 |
| Couple (one disabled) | $1,166 | $941 | $2,107 |
| Single parent + 1 child | $952 | $941 | $1,893 |
| Single parent + 2 children | $952 | $1,018 | $1,970 |
| Couple + 1 child | $1,166 | $1,018 | $2,184 |
| Couple + 2 children | $1,166 | $1,105 | $2,271 |
These rates took effect July 1, 2025, after a 2.8% inflation adjustment. They represent the fourth increase since September 2022 — a cumulative 20% rise.
If your actual rent is lower than the maximum shelter allowance, you receive only what you actually pay. Basic needs is a fixed amount based on family size.

What to do if your ODSP payment is late
Most of the time, a "late" payment is simply a processing delay. Here is what to check, in order:
Check your bank account again. Direct deposit payments can appear anywhere from early morning to mid-afternoon on the payment date. If you are checking before noon, give it a few more hours.
Wait one business day. If you bank with a smaller credit union or an online-only bank, processing may take slightly longer. By the next business day, the deposit should appear.
Contact your ODSP caseworker. If the payment has not arrived by the end of the next business day, call your caseworker directly. They can check whether the payment was issued and whether there is an issue with your file. You can also call the Social Assistance Support Line at 1-888-999-1142.
Check your mailing address (cheque recipients). If you still receive payment by cheque, allow 5 to 10 business days for delivery. If your address has changed and you have not updated it, the cheque may have gone to your old address.
Consider switching to direct deposit. Direct deposit is the fastest and most reliable way to receive ODSP. If you do not have a bank account, Ontario offers a reloadable payment card as an alternative — ask your caseworker for details.
How ODSP payments are delivered
There are three ways to receive your ODSP income support:
Direct deposit is the recommended option. Payments go straight to your bank account on the scheduled date, with no risk of lost or delayed cheques. To set this up, provide your banking information to your ODSP caseworker.
Reloadable payment card is available for recipients who do not have a bank account. The Ontario government loads your payment onto a prepaid card each month. You can use it anywhere that accepts Mastercard, withdraw cash at ATMs, and check your balance online.
Cheque by mail is the slowest option. Allow 5 to 10 business days after the payment date. If you are still receiving cheques, switching to direct deposit or the payment card will get your money faster.
Will ODSP rates increase in July 2026?
Almost certainly — but the exact percentage has not been announced yet.
Since July 2023, ODSP rates have been tied to inflation through the Ontario Consumer Price Index. Each year, the government adjusts rates effective July 1. Here is the recent history:
| Year | Increase | Single person rate after |
|---|---|---|
| September 2022 | 5% | $1,228 |
| July 2023 | 6.5% | $1,308 |
| July 2024 | 4.5% | $1,368 |
| July 2025 | 2.8% | $1,408 |
| July 2026 | TBD | TBD |
The 2.8% increase in 2025 was the lowest of the four adjustments since inflation indexing began. The July 2026 adjustment will be based on Ontario CPI data for the previous year. Your ODSP caseworker will notify you of the new amount, or you can check ontario.ca when rates are published.
For comparison, Ontario Works rates for 2026 have been frozen at $733/month for a single person since 2018 — with no inflation indexing.
Canada Disability Benefit — extra $200/month
The federal Canada Disability Benefit (CDB) is a separate monthly payment on top of ODSP. It launched in July 2025 and provides up to $200/month ($2,400/year) to working-age adults with a Disability Tax Credit certificate.
The important part: Ontario has classified the CDB as exempt income for ODSP purposes. That means receiving the CDB does not reduce your ODSP payment at all. You get both in full.
For a single ODSP recipient who also qualifies for CDB, the combined maximum is approximately $1,608/month — before other benefits like OTB or GST/HST Credit.
Starting July 2026, the CDB will be indexed to inflation. The exact new amount has not been published yet, but analysts expect it to rise to roughly $204/month based on a projected 2% indexation increase.
To apply, you need a valid Disability Tax Credit (DTC) certificate. If you do not have one, ask your doctor to complete CRA Form T2201. For more details, see Canada Disability Benefit explained.
Other benefits alongside ODSP
ODSP recipients automatically qualify for several additional programs that can significantly increase your total support. Many people miss these — especially if no one has checked all their eligibility at once.
Ontario Drug Benefit (ODB) covers most prescription medications with a $2 co-pay per prescription. You qualify automatically while on ODSP.
Extended health benefits through ODSP cover vision care, basic dental, and assistive devices. If you leave ODSP for employment, transitional health benefits may continue temporarily.
Ontario Electricity Support Program (OESP) provides a $35–$75/month credit on your electricity bill. ODSP recipients qualify automatically.
Ontario Trillium Benefit (OTB) is a monthly tax credit combining the Ontario Sales Tax Credit, Ontario Energy and Property Tax Credit, and Northern Ontario Energy Credit. See Ontario Trillium Benefit payment dates for the full schedule.
Canada Child Benefit (CCB) is paid separately if you have children — up to $7,997 per child under 6.
GST/HST Credit provides up to $519/year for a single person, paid quarterly.
To keep receiving OTB, CCB, and GST/HST Credit, you must file your taxes to keep benefits — even if you had no income.
A single ODSP recipient with one child could receive ODSP + CDB + CCB + OTB + GST/HST Credit + OESP — potentially exceeding $3,000/month in combined support.

FAQ
When is the next ODSP payment in 2026?+
The next ODSP payment is on March 31, 2026 — the last business day of March. After that, the April payment is scheduled for April 30, 2026. ODSP payments follow a consistent pattern: always the last business day of the month. If that day is a weekend or holiday, the payment moves to the preceding business day. The full 2026 calendar is in the table above.
Are ODSP payments taxable?+
ODSP basic needs and shelter payments are not taxable. They are not added to your taxable income and do not increase your tax bill. However, you will receive a T5007 slip (Statement of Benefits) each year showing the amount you received. The T5007 is reported on your tax return at line 14500, but it is treated differently from employment income. Filing your tax return is still essential — without it, you may lose other benefits like the GST/HST Credit and Ontario Trillium Benefit.
Can I get ODSP and Canada Disability Benefit at the same time?+
Yes. The Canada Disability Benefit ($200/month) is classified as exempt income for ODSP. Receiving it does not reduce your ODSP payment. You get both in full. To qualify for the CDB, you need a valid Disability Tax Credit certificate and a filed 2024 tax return. The CDB is also exempt for Ontario Works recipients. For full details, see Canada Disability Benefit explained .
What happens to ODSP if I start working?+
ODSP has one of the most generous earnings exemptions in Canada. The first $1,000/month of net employment income is fully exempt — your ODSP payment does not change at all. Above $1,000, only 75% is deducted, meaning you keep 25 cents of every additional dollar. You also receive a $100/month Work-Related Benefit while employed. Working on ODSP always leaves you with more total income than not working. For a detailed breakdown with examples, see ODSP rates and earnings exemption rules .
Will ODSP go up in July 2026?+
ODSP is now indexed to inflation, and rates are adjusted every July based on the Ontario Consumer Price Index. Since September 2022, rates have increased by a total of 20% across four adjustments. The July 2026 increase is expected but the specific percentage has not been announced yet. It will be based on Ontario CPI data for the previous year. Your caseworker will notify you of the new amount, or you can check ontario.ca when rates are published.
